Having adopted a black lab when marrying my husband, we were intent on finding a good dog park. The ones that we had known about back home were about 9 acres of fenced in area. There was a small pond, a few benches, a gazebo, and a water hose. Now that we are in Delaware, we have come to find the amazing amount of parks in the state. The focus on nature preservation here is admirable and makes for a great in the outdoors. We stumbled upon the Lums Pond State Park dog park, which is a hidden oasis of two miles of open field and a small lake beach. It was awesome to let our dog off her leash for the first time and splash around in the water. All the other dogs that came were also water-loving and friendly, which made for a great experience. This state park also consists of camping (with yurts too!), trails (for horses and humans), and a zipline! This hidden gem is definitely a destination spot if you're in the area and need to let your pooch run free.
