Right at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, the Turkey Point lighthouse was a neat, little destination. Found in the Elk Neck State Park, this trail is less than a mile to the light house from the parking lot. The parking lot is so small that there was a park ranger that monitored the limit in the spots. Therefore, the crowd started rolling in around 10am! The lot had just filled, so we had to patiently in a small line of cars waiting for a spot to open up and it was totally worth it. A little trail down the way from the lighthouse, we came upon a very small beach! It was unfrequented and a great, little secret. There were several factors that made this spot a must-see. The interesting part about this specific lighthouse is that it was one of the few that had several female light-keepers. So in that regard, you go girls!
